Builders Adopts Build Day

On Saturday, April 19th, more than 20 employees from Swinerton
Builders worked to help the Johnson-Hoohuli family build their
house with Habitat for Humanity Leeward O’ahu as well as donate
$2,500 to support Leeward Habitat’s home building projects.
"We are
excited to build a relationship with our local Habitat for
Humanity,” said Swinerton Builders Hawaii Division Manager/Vice
President, George Ehara. “It is an incredible organization that
continues to help build homes and hope for the people on the
coast of Leeward Oahu.”
Swinerton
employees worked alongside the Johnson-Hoohuli family by
painting the exterior and interior of the home that is nearing
completion. Special thanks to all the Swinerton employees that
donated their time, Wil Farinas for coordinating the
Adopt-a-Day, Aloha Painting and their volunteer painters Justin
and Tommy, and Stephen Takamori.

Fourth Annual Build-a-Thon Event
Leeward
Habitat had nearly 150 volunteers to help build three homes for
families in need. Build-a-Thon Volunteers will help with a
variety of tasks such as raising the walls and the roof at the
Johnson-Hoohuli House, installing windows and doors at the
Kaneakua House, and assembling walls for the next partner family
at the Base Yard.
During the build day
volunteers worked to erect 38 walls for the Johnson-Hoohuli
seven bedroom and two bath house. The project was transformed
from a platform to the entire shell of a house with two shifts
of volunteers during the Build-a-Thon day.
Leeward
Habitat Build-a-Thon volunteers participated in five hour
shifts. The Build-a-Thon is similar to a “Walk-a-Thon“ -
builders collect pledges from family and friends based on the
number of hours worked (or solicit a set pledge amount) which is
raised for Habitat for Humanity Leeward O’ahu. All funds raised
by the affiliate stayed in our service area and helps in our
efforts to eliminate substandard housing.
Special thanks to
the
Build-a-Thon teams of Centex Destination Properties, Waikiki
Rotary, Waianae Rotary, Ko Olina Beach Marriott, J.W. Marriott
Ihilani Resort, Waikiki Beach Marriott, HomeStreet Bank, and
Booz Allen Hamilton.
